We’ve said, to have a perfect copy of your local WordPress site (but this is a bit ‘for all sites) in the worst case can only be a nice thing, but often we literally saves lives and helps us enormously in launching of any web project.

To do that, however, there needs an engine, a ‘local’ server precisely that simulates the operation of a real web server, you will love this engine to madness, has a name: XAMPP (cross-platform Apache MySQL PHP Perl)!

1 – Download XAMPP

You just type “XAMPP” on Google and you find yourself immediately www.apachefriends.org the site from which you can download the file:

Depending on your operating system selects the download of your interest (Windows or Linux), while if you use a Mac you should rely on Mamp (see below) …

2 – Run the install process

Now you just have to take the downloaded file and run it, installation is simple and intuitive and does not require a lot of clarification.

3 -Start your engines

Done. Now every time you want to start your own ‘local server’ (the premise of course essential to start your WP) you just have to launch your Control Panel and start Apache and MySQL servers by clicking the ‘Start’ button to the side and remembering click on ‘Stop’ when you’re done (even ignoring the other modules FileZilla, Mercury and Tomcat). And all done 😉

As mentioned earlier for those who use a Mac XAMPP is not good (or rather could also be good in its version for Mac but the user experience so far has not been very good of course) and here intervenes its big brother (or less, depending on tastes) MAMP (Mac Apache MySQL PHP). The procedure is very similar and later will, as often happens, even more intuitive and easy to manage:

1 – Download MAMP

You just type “Mamp” on Google and you find yourself immediately www.mamp.info the site from which you can download the file:

2 – Run the install process

Now you just have to take the downloaded file and run it, installation is simple and intuitive, and even here there is no need many explanations.

3 – Fire up the engine and go to Homepage

Done. Even here every time you want to start your own ‘local server’ you just have to launch your Control Panel and start Apache and PHP server. Once started you can click Go to Homepage and find yourself in a browser window from which you can make different actions including that of creating your database, the first step to your site WordPress locally. That’s it, even on the Mac! 😉
